4th of July Duds

There are so many great options out there for what to wear for 4th of July. Me and my mini will be rocking out the Firecracker Lily Pulitzer dresses shown below (bonus...they glow in the dark, how cool!) Also, I can vouch for the knot sandals from West MArine, not only so classic preppy, but incredibly comfortable. I bought mine back in spring and have just about worn them out already ♥

Cowgirl Up, it's Mardi Gras Y'all!!

Today I'm recovering from two Mardi Gras parades this weekend, with the Krewe of Daisy Dukes. My arms are sore from slinging beads, and my body tired out from all the festivities, but man did I have any awesome time!

Happy Mardi Gras!!

Make sure to check back this week, I finally got around to upholstering a headboard for our master bedroom, it only took two years ;)

Weekend Recap

We had a great little bit of time off, that lasted all the way through yesterday, that was jam packed with celebrating the Fourth, my 10 year high school reunion, remembering my grandmother with all the family with a memorial, charter boat offshore fishing, eating and lots more :) During that time we had family in from Europe, Virginia, New Orleans, North Carolina, all over the place. I'll post pictures over the next few days of our fishing trip, family fun, and a very tasty dessert recipe I tried out.

Wednesday we celebrated the fourth with my mom, one of our kiddos previous teachers, some friends and their adorable baby.
Yes, our goofy Old Navy Shirts, I do them every year, but still ♥ them :)

Yummy goodies to nibble on, found the bell pepper dip holder idea on Pinterest, where else ;)

Kabobs ready for the grill....

....and the grill master in action!

Yes, that is my husband doing a toe touch over a firework....but you have to admit, it's a pretty good toe touch, lol

Egg-squisite Easter Eggs

The hubby is working this weekend, so me and the kiddos are going to track down some Easter egg hunts, and I think we may trial run a few of these egg decorating tips in anticipating for next week.

Temporary Tattoos
I know they put decals in some decorating kits, but I've got loads of regular leftover temporary tattoos lying around and I never would have thought to use them

Botanical Prints
These are created with leaves or flowers placed on the egg and then you wrap each egg in panty hose to hold foliage in place while you dip it in color, so pretty! Click here for the tutorial

Dainty Eggs
These are decorate with simple scrap booking flowers, and look oh so elegant and sweet!

Simple Eggs
I'm still learning all its uses, and gathering ideas, but I'll definitely be busting out the Cricket and vinyl paper to make monogrammed eggs.

What's your favorite way to decorate eggs?

Making Something Ugly...Even Uglier??

Okay, this is going down as a flub, but I thought I'd share anyways, since it was in my pictures. I've seen some really cute glasses and plates/bowls, people have glued together to make large candlesticks, trays, etc. And thought I'd give it a try. However...I couldn't find quite what I was looking for, so, from the clearance section of Home Goods, I snagged a $1 Ceramic Angel Candle stick and $2 ceramic dog bowl.

After gluing them together, I hit them with some pink spray paint. Unfortunately, it was still an ugly candle stick. So, I added some rhinestones, and it sitting on my front table for the next two weeks, until February 14th, after which it will make its way to its new home at Good will, lol, oh well you can't win 'em  all.

The LOVE letters did turn out cute though. These were card stock letters from Joann's, I spray painted them same as the candlestick, uses mod-podge to decoupage leftover tissue pager from Christmas on top. Then Miss Baylor stamped all over them with different hearts, and we used some scrapbook heart accents.

Christmas in Montana

One of my all-time favorite places is Montana. When we were kids, my dad moved to and bought a house in Bozeman. While he only ended up living there for a few years, my Grandfather has kept the house, and it is such a beautiful place with so many wonderful memories. We used to go back-packing in  the summers, and make toboggan runs in the backyard in the fresh powder and  go skiing in the winters at Bridger Bowl. Though Brett and I haven't been in almost 8 years, I can't wait to make another trip out there. It truly is "God's County." Such untouched beauty, and amazing landscapes!

The house sits on the side of a mountain, leading back to a Highlight National Park, such a gorgeous place to visit!

Look at all the snow!!! ♥♥♥ Definately won't be seeing any of that in Florida!

Can't wait to take the kids and teach them how to ski :)

Love me some skiing in fresh powder!

Sorry for the grainy pictures, it's amazing how we survived before digital photos :)

We look so young!

Brett's very first run! We quickly advanced him and took him on Black diamonds by the second day, he was a very good sport ♥
