Miss B's New Room...In Progress

Not the best pics, but all I managed to snap on the Iphone before calling it a night. I got B's dressage photos up, waiting for our goodies from the Pottery Barn Emily & Meritt collection to get in (design board here & collection here).

Recycled frames from the old house, from Michael's I believe. Picked these because they've got a slight gold hue around the edges and center. Ignore the Buccaneers football chair below, B borrowed from her brothers room, because the matching chair is still at the other house. 

And a quick peek of the living room....our furniture actually fits this house better than the last I think :) Allot of that is because we went with a brown undertone paint color in lieu of grey. Checkout our awesome rug I mentioned here from PB, loving this thing!!

PB Teen: Emily & Meritt Collection

Did anyone else get the Fall collection catalog from PB Teen yesterday? It has a new series by Emily & Meritt, two celebrity stylists. Be prepared to swoon, I seriously would decorate my own bedroom in all their pieces, but I don't think the hub would fly for it. It's got such a vintage, romantic, chic feel to it, maybe a bit preppy too.

But...since we just moved, I am redesigning Miss B's room, and we were already looking to work in the white/grey/plum scheme with some pops of gold and navy...and this collection couldn't be more perfect for putting it together. Check back tomorrow for her inspiration board I'm putting together.

4th of July Duds

There are so many great options out there for what to wear for 4th of July. Me and my mini will be rocking out the Firecracker Lily Pulitzer dresses shown below (bonus...they glow in the dark, how cool!) Also, I can vouch for the knot sandals from West MArine, not only so classic preppy, but incredibly comfortable. I bought mine back in spring and have just about worn them out already ♥

Kids Bathroom Re-Do: Before

I decided a couple of weeks ago that I needed to give the kids bathroom a little revamp. It's been in it's current state for two years  since we moved into the new house, and being as G will be ten this year, and is all boy, blue and pink hippos and elephants, just don't cut it when friends are over. It's difficult finding a middle ground for a brother and sister shared bathroom. The finished redo actually turned out quite nicely and should be able to stay for several years to come. But, before we can get to that...here are the before shots:

Quick Boot Bedazzle

We are in the process of a deep spring clean around here, and the last THREE, yes 3, nights have been concentrated on Miss B's room. I swear my seven year old may have more clothes and shoes than I do....Anyways, she has no less than 6 pairs of boots, and these b;lack ones were looking a little worse for wear, but then I decided to try out something I'd seen on etsy to give them a little bit more life for the rest of this winter.

Seriously, I love these, I think I would rock them ;)

I decided since these were older boots, I would do a sparse scattered look, and if Baylor loved, then I'll go crazy like the inspiration ones above for next years boots.

What you need:

• Boots (these are just an inexpensive pair from Target)
• Bling (rhinestones with heat adhesive on back, Joann's or Michael's)
• Heat Stick (to adhere rhinestones with)

I just poured our all different color rhinestones in a tray

   

 And then randomly adhered them to the boots, the heat stick work really easily, it basically gets really hot, and you just press the tip of it to the rhinestone for about 10-15 seconds, and the heat melts the adhesive on the back of the stone. I always let cool for a few minutes, and then check to make sure I don't have any loose stones.

And presto, some boots with a bit ore pizazz! I forgot to get a pic of b wearing them the next day, but she said she got lots of compliments and people asking where she got them at....Oh, my awesome mom made them, lol :)

Backflips and Cupcakes!

Well this past weekend we celebrated Miss B's 7th Birthday. Don't even get me started on how quickly 7 years flies by :( But, none the less, I had a fabulous party to throw for my little not-so-little girl. Miss Opinionated decided on a gymnastics party, and wanted the usual favorite colors, pink, black and maybe some zebra. Here's the result...

 

Snapper Fishing

While all our family was in town, my mom chartered a huge boat to take us all offshore fishing. We headed out of the marina about six o'clock in the morning, yes, that means we were up at four to get ready and drive to the marina, yikes! And went about 12 miles offshore. We caught 23 Red Snappers, 1 King Mackerel and 2 Spanish Mackerel, everyone had such a blast, it was a thrill reeling in the fish and all of us peering over the edge of the boat to see what kind and how big  the fish was :)

Weekend Recap

We had a great little bit of time off, that lasted all the way through yesterday, that was jam packed with celebrating the Fourth, my 10 year high school reunion, remembering my grandmother with all the family with a memorial, charter boat offshore fishing, eating and lots more :) During that time we had family in from Europe, Virginia, New Orleans, North Carolina, all over the place. I'll post pictures over the next few days of our fishing trip, family fun, and a very tasty dessert recipe I tried out.

Wednesday we celebrated the fourth with my mom, one of our kiddos previous teachers, some friends and their adorable baby.

Kid's Nautical Playroom

I'm trying to finish up the kiddo's playroom, I've been playing with different ideas and arrangements, but just about have everything as I like it. I thought I'd show you my inspiration board, and then if I can get a few things finished up over the weekend, I can do a room review Monday.

Since the kids are 8 and 6 now, I wanted to do something gender neutral, that they could enjoy for a few years, so I went in a nautical direction, with lots of neutrals to keep things from getting too busy. You may think I'm crazy for a white couch in a kids playroom, but I nabbed this awesome sofa for 75% at the DUH white tent sale, and it's slip-pcovered, so its completely washable and bleachable, and about the most comfortable couch ever!

Green Snacking

I've been meaning to do a post on how great these reusable snack bags from ReSnackIt are, and then I noticed yesterday that they were going to be on Zulilly today, so I thought this would be a great day to share since they're on sale.

These great little "snack baggies" come in great fun prints, are reusable, so they're earth friendly and wallet friendly, because those Ziplock baggies can get expensive, and they also make different sizes for sandwiches too.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was just what I needed, lots of fun family time. The hubby had the weekend off, so we made the most of it, soccer games, beach fun, a crawfish boil with old friends, date night with the hubby and dancing new friends, tending to our vegetable garden, grilled steaks and baked potatoes, YUM, and a lazy Sunday afternoon watching Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast :)
